Step 3 Obtain a SPIN

All recipients of universal service support receive disbursements through automatic deposit to the bank account designated on the FCC Form 498 (Service Provider Identification Number and General Contact Information Form). The FCC Form 498 collects service provider contact, billing, and collection information. Once the information has been validated and approved, USAC will issue the Service Provider Identification Number (SPIN). The SPIN is a unique number assigned to each service provider by USAC and serves as USAC's tool to ensure that approved support is directed to the correct service provider. We are unable to disburse universal service support without an active SPIN that contains valid banking information.
