General Questions Received by E-mail

  1. An applicant would like to receive distance learning classes from a local community college for their high school AP program. If the applicant purchases a circuit from an eligible telecommunication carrier to connect from the school to the college, would the cost of the circuit be eligible?

  2. Many Houston area school districts are considering moving their Network Operating Center to a "safe site" (such as an underground bunker owned by a third party) to prevent future flooding problems (which were incurred during hurricane Ike and caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage). If the applicant purchases a circuit from an eligible telecommunication carrier to connect from the school to the off-site NOC, would the cost of the circuit be eligible?

  3. I think I heard it mentioned at the Tampa SP Training that if it was necessary to go in and "dust" the connections each month on a piece of equipment to ensure the equipment continued to operate properly that this would be considered eligible under Basic Maintenance? I understand that "dusting" was used as an example, and that this would refer to any necessary type of "Preventative Maintenance" that was needed to ensure a trouble free connection. Did I hear this correctly in that "Preventative Maintenance" is eligible and that we could set up a regular schedule for doing this under eligible Basic Maintenance? Thanks in advance for this clarification.
