FAQs about HATS
Listed below are several frequently asked questions (FAQ's) regarding HATS.
Why was I selected?
USAC identifies applicants by searching for entities that have had difficulties with the program in the last two funding years. This could include, for example, repeated denial of invoices, reduction or denial of funding on more than one Funding Request Number (FRN), program forms submitted after the deadline, or other problems that prevented the entities from receiving funding. An entity's selection has no bearing on its current application decisions or status.
How long will a HATS visit last?
Visits typically last one to four hours. There is no set time limit. The length of the visit depends on the applicant's understanding of the application process and willingness to provide feedback.
Do I need to prepare anything in advance?
No. You are not required to have anything prepared for a HATS visit. The HATS Specialists will not require any documentation or access to classrooms, equipment or administrative files. However, if you have questions regarding a specific Funding Year, it may be helpful to have the related documentation available to discuss.
What mode of outreach is right for me?
Our HATS Specialists will work with you to determine which mode of outreach is best suited for your needs.
Who can attend the HATS visit?
You are welcome to invite anyone you want to attend the visit. Any individuals who actively participate in the Schools and Libraries program application process can benefit from the visit.
